On August 29, NEDO Silicon Valley hosted a webinar titled “Realizing the Value of IP: Practical Applications and Strategies.” This event was part of the Bay Area CHIZAI (IP) Seminar Series.
Presenter:
Mauricio Uribe, Partner, Knobbe Martens
IP valuation models frequently arise in the context of IP licensing programs, due diligence, venture capital investments, initial public offerings (IPOs), and IP asset sales/liquidations. Three primary economic valuation models—cost valuation, market valuation, and income valuation—can be utilized to assign a value to IP assets. However, when applied to IP assets, the execution of many well-known models can present challenges.
In this CHIZAI seminar, we had privilege of welcoming Mauricio Uribe as our keynote speaker. Leveraging his extensive expertise, Mauricio delivered a practical discussion on the applicability of the three primary economic valuation models to IP assets. He also explored how IP licensing programs can be developed based on these valuations. A key takeaway was that detailed analysis, including a deep understanding of both our own position and the broader ecosystem, is the first and fundamental step in IP valuation, which is also essential for creating an effective IP strategy.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our exceptional speaker and extend warm thanks to all attendees.
We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
