NEDO Silicon Valley Office hosted an event titled, "Patentability of Computer Implemented Inventions in Japan and US". This was part of the Bay Area CHIZAI (IP) Seminar -in fact, the 47th seminar!
In this seminar, Japan Patent Office (JPO) examiners in the Department of Electronic Technology, who actually examine inventions, introduced their initiatives. Topics included procedures in Japan when examining AI/IoT related inventions and computer software related inventions. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion with distinguished speakers from the USPTO and IP professionals in the U.S. The event attendees were able to get a better understanding of similarities and differences on patentability in the U.S. and Japan. Valuable information was shared by the panelists on what is important when applying for patents in the field of computer implemented inventions.
Members from the NEDO Silicon Valley Office would like to send a warm thank you to those who attended and express our gratitude to our wonderful speakers and moderator!
