The European Commission released a draft of Standard Essential Patents (SEP)
regulation on April 27, 2023. Given that the proposal’s impact on licensing negotiations
and litigations extends beyond Europe, it has been capturing the attention of industry
professionals and policymakers worldwide.
In this CHIZAI (IP) seminar, we were honored to invite Professor Dr. Tilman Müller-Stoy
as a featured presenter. He shared his valuable insights on the latest SEP
developments in the EU and Germany. Subsequently, Professor Toshiko Takenaka led a
panel discussion in which Joseph Yang and Jillian Mertsch conducted an in-depth
exploration of the subject from the perspectives of both SEP holders and implementors.
The members of the NEDO Silicon Valley Office would like to extend a warm thank you
to all those who attended and express our gratitude to all of our amazing speakers!
This marked the 50 th CHIZAI seminar, and we hope to continue this platform where IP
professionals share their insights and opinions. We could not organize CHIZAI seminar
series without our esteemed speakers and our dedicated audience. Thank you so
much!
We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
