On August 10th at Google Launchpad in San Francisco, NEDO and Silicon Valley Forum held the 4th Japanese Pitch Night – Summer 2017, where technology startups pitched their businesses to investors and corporations. The participating startups were two biotech companies (MediGear International and Metcela ), two RFID technology companies (RFLocus and Phoenix Solution), one AI company (SOINN) and one video processing chip company (Architec). They all aim to raise funds and seek collaborative opportunities here in Silicon Valley.
The event started with a panel discussion on the challenges in commercializing R&D and the panelists were Ryan Bethencourt of Indie Bio, Balaji Gopinath of Forte Ventures, Deborah Magid of IBM, Jim French of Panasonic R&D Company of America and the moderator was Steve Goldberg of Venrock. The event had over 200 attendees showing there is a high level of interest in Japanese technology startups in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.
